At SGBC, kids are a valued part of our multigenerational church family.
Jesus welcomed little children and taught that, for anyone to enter the kingdom of heaven, they must be like children. As such, at SGBC we strive to minister well to the kids in our care…after all, they are not only the future of the church, they are the church right now!

All children’s activities take place in our Family Ministry Center. We’ll meet you at the front door of the FMC, get your child checked in, and get you where you need to be!

Sunday School begins at 9:00 am every Sunday, and children can begin arriving at the front of the Family Ministry Center to sign in as early as 8:45.
On Wednesday nights, following the 5:45 pm churchwide fellowship meal, kids dismiss for activities. Preschoolers have a music class that meets from 6:30-7:00 pm followed by a Bible lesson from 7:00-7:30 pm. Kids from kindergarten through 5th grade have their Bible lesson from 6:30-7:30 pm.

Safety is our number one priority when you entrust your children in our care.
All children need to be signed in by their parents at our check-in station in the FMC foyer prior to drop-off. You will receive a sticker identifying you as your child’s guardian that you will then show at pick-up.
Doors to the FMC are locked and manned during children’s activities, and a member of our security team monitors the building during activities.
All volunteers 16 and up are required by the church to take Ministry Safe’s child protection training every two years and pass a background check before serving with kids.

Nursery care begins as early as you’re ready to bring your baby to church, and we’d love to care for them during Sunday School, worship, and for special events.
We have a variety of programs and activities for preschoolers through elementary students. Upon entering 6th grade, kids graduate into our student ministry.

If and when your child is ready to engage in worship, whether for a few minutes or for the duration of the service, we highly encourage you to include them. This is how they learn what church is! For those parents who wish to keep their kids in worship, we have children’s activity pages available based on that morning’s message that your child can work on while they absorb what’s happening around them.
With all that being said, childcare is available throughout the worship service for all kids Pre-K and under. Childcare is also available for most church events and supplemental worship services.

At SGBC, Youth are a valued part of our multigenerational church family.
At South Garland Baptist Church, we believe that the youth (6th - 12th Grade) are vital to the church today. We are committed to helping them grow in their faith in Jesus Christ, equipping them to become lifelong disciples. Our youth are provided with numerous opportunities to learn, grow, and serve Jesus within our community.
Families
Being a part of the family is a big part of Christianity and so families are a big deal at South Garland Baptist Church. Our hope and desire is to support families as they do what God calls them to and that is, “Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he grows older he will not abandon it” (Proverbs 22:6). We love our families by supporting them in this work: through several different ministries: South Garland Kids, South Garland Youth, and South Garland Adult Discipleship. We are here to support the families in our church and community, contact us anytime.
